Joel Campbell joined in on the viral phenomenon known as the Ice Bucket Challenge, a fundraiser for ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Some 1.7 million donors have combined to raise almost $80 million to fight the neuromuscular disease.
The curly-haired defensive midfielder was one of the breakout stars of Costa Rica's surprising World Cup run to the quarterfinals in Brazil. The 22-year-old started all five matches, and held in check top players like Italy's Andrea Pirlo during the tournament.
