How many times did you flip through the channels Thursday night to find the soccer game finals? Once? Twice? Three times?
It wasn't there, was it?
The organization overseeing Costa Rica's professional soccer suspended the match to the dismay of thousands of fans across the country.
According to a press release issued on Thursday – just hours before the long-anticipated game between Liberia Mía and Club Sport Herediana – the Costa Rican Soccer Federation suspended the match due to an appeal from Saprissa.
According to newspaper reports, three players on the Liberia team played in last Sunday's semifinal match against Saprissa with five yellow cards, which is prohibited under regulations.
The soccer federation issued “a direct order to (the National Union of Soccer) UNAFUT to take actions to ensure the immediate and temporary suspension of the two final games of the National Championship First Division between Liberia Mía and Club Sport Herediana until (the situation) has been definitively resolved.” |
