Interpol nabs another gringo in Costa Rica
By Nick Wilkinson
Tico Times Staff | nwilkinson@ticotimes.net

Another gringo bit the dust after local law enforcement arrested him in a bar in Cartago last week.

Agents of Interpol and the Intelligence and Security Department arrested dog breeder Augustus Pat Saunders, 48, wanted for “crimes related to dangerous drugs” on May 7, a press release states.

Authorities said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has been looking for Saunders since 2007. But Interpol did not provide details of the warrant, including what state he is wanted in.

The Interpol press release states Saunders first entered Costa Rica in 2000.

He is currently in the custody of the country's immigration police, awaiting extradition.
