The Mexican pop/rock group Maná will treat Costa Rican fans to songs from their latest album “Amar Es Combatir” (“To Live is to Fight”) tonight during their concert at Ricardo Saprissa Stadium in Tibás, north of San José.
Lead singer Fher Olvera recently told the daily La Nación that “life is a perpetual combat and it's good to move to get somewhere.” This is the message behind the group's newest album, he said.
“Amar es combatir” is a phrase from a poem by Mexico's Octavio Paz.
“To love is to fight because things should be achieved through love. This is not a combat of war, but a combat of feelings, of soul, of illusions, of the desire to do things and achieve things,” Olvera said.
The lead singer attributed the group's 20-year successful career to its core as a Latin American rock band.
He promised tonight's concert in Tibás will be on par with recent performances in Europe and the United States.
“We admire Costa Rica a lot, and it's a country that we respect for being one of the most progressive in Latin America, with less violence and less corruption. How I wish Mexico could be like Costa Rica,” he said. |
