Work is progressing on the restoration of the Costa Rican Art Museum in western San José's La Sabana Park. Pictured here is the museum's lobby, with a new floor made by hand using techniques similar to those employed in the 1940s, according to Eduardo Faith, director of the museum. All woodwork is also being done by hand. The more than $1 million restoration is the biggest in the 70-year history of the museum, which houses some 6,600 works of art. The facility has been closed since last January for the restoration work and is set to reopen April 7. |
