Famous San José street guitarist Marito Mortadela died Friday having spent two days in San Juan de Dios Hospital after falling into cardiac arrest while eating lunch in downtown San José. Mortadela would have turned 59 this year.
A U.S. retiree died in a surfing accident on Costa Rica's northwestern Pacific coast on Friday morning. Randy Giambalvo, 61, was surfing at Playa Avellanas in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, when he struck his head on a rock and died.
