María Chinchilla and James Raymond tied the knot with a romantic sunset beach wedding ceremony and celebration on Jan. 21. María and Jim met at her former store, Jimar Jungle, in Manuel Antonio, and Jim swept her off to live in Atlanta, where they now reside.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Catherine Désert, who died Jan. 24 in Canada after a tragic illness. Her laughter, motor scooter adventures and legendary jam sessions every week were a highlight for many in Manuel Antonio. We will miss her.
Please help Kids Saving The Rainforest and the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) stop wildlife electrocutions on the live wires and transformers above the roads. If you see an animal that has been electrocuted, please make a record of the location and/or the electrical post number and contact Kids Saving The Rainforest at 2777-2592 or info@kidssavingtherainforest.org. The group will notify ICE and work to ensure it doesn’t happen again at that site.
A big thank-you to the short-term mission group – Kenneth Gagne, James Robertson, Beverly Walker and Patricia Johnson – from Beaufort, South Carolina, who came to help build the Assembly of God Church on the highway to the Quepos Hospital.
Don’t forget the Hotel Byblos Billfish Sports Bar Super Bowl Party on Feb. 5. They will be serving cheap $1 bar snacks throughout the event. The game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants starts at 5 p.m. Costa Rica time; pregame starts at 3 p.m.
