Little Theatre Group goes on the road

Posted: Friday, April 01, 2011 - By Tico Times

The Little Theatre Group, Costa Rica’s oldest English-language community theater group, is hitting the road, after receiving invitations to perform at two venues outside the Central Valley.

The road shows kick off April 17 with the romantic comedy “Love Letters,” starring two pros, Laurie Blizzard and Grady Bruce, as a lunch-theater show at 2 p.m. at Vista del Valle Plantation Inn in Rosario de Naranjo, about 20 minutes past the airport in Alajuela, northwest of San José. For reservations, call 2450-0800 or email front desk@vistadelvalle.com, or visit www.littletheatregroup.org. For directions, go to www.vistadelvalleplantationinn.com.

“Steel Magnolias” will also go on the road with shows at the beach and then back in the Central Valley. The play-turned-1989-movie will be performed May 14 and 15 at Hermosa Heights Embassy Theater in Playa Hermosa, in the northwestern province of Guanacaste. Shows are at 8 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. For more information, email hermosaheights@yahoo.com or call 2672-0173.

A week later, the group will bring the play back to San José, to give three performances on the east side at the Costa Rican-North American Cultural Center in Barrio Dent. Showtimes are May 20 at 10 a.m. (student show) and 8 p.m., and May 21 at 2:30 p.m. For reservations, call 8858-1446 or go to the group’s website.
