Salsa star Marc Anthony drew crowds this week after arriving in the Caribbean port town of Limón on Sunday, before being spotted Tuesday heading to a beach just south of Puerto Viejo.  Anthony, who was born in New York City to Puerto Rican parents, was an established salsa singer well before achieving crossover success in the United States following the 1999 release of “I Need to Know.” The pop star played a show in Costa Rica on June 18.

Fans and the media along the Caribbean coast were seeking a glimpse of the star, who has been the subject of entertainment news headlines since splitting from celebrity wife Jennifer Lopez in July. The split from Lopez came after seven years of marriage and the birth of twins in 2008.

Prior to their split the pair began production of “¡Que Viva! The Chosen,” a realty TV show that will explore 21 countries in Latin America in search of undiscovered talent in performing arts.  The show will go on despite the break-up. The program includes a stint in Costa Rica, a representative for Marc Anthony contacted The Tico Times on Thursday, and said Anthony is in the country looking for talent for the show.
