GOPlaya Beach of the Week: Penca Beach

December 20, 2018

Surrounded by mountains and featuring white sand contrasting turquoise water, Penca Beach has to be seen to be believed.

The small beach in Carrillo, Guanacaste is at the end of a bumpy dirt road and a hiking trail, but the trek is worth it. You’ll be rewarded with calm waves, beautiful scenery and a great place to snorkel.

Want to see more? GOPlaya is a search engine that will help you discover more than 200 beaches across Costa Rica, including Penca and Quesera. It has photo galleries, turn-by-turn directions, lets you book local hotels and even gets you discounts and special perks on car rentals.

Haven’t heard of GOPlaya? Two friends launched the website after touring Costa Rica to identify the country’s best beaches.

The site is available in English and Spanish, lets you sort beaches by categories such as “white sand” and “unspoiled,” and can provide personalized recommendations to choose your perfect destination.
