Spirit Airlines to fly Houston-Costa Rica starting May 28

Spirit Airlines plans to offer four new weekly flights between Houston and Costa Rica starting May 28, the U.S. discount carrier announced Thursday.

Flights will run between Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

The carrier’s public relations manager, Irisaida Méndez, said the airline’s rates are, on average, up to 40 percent lower than those of other companies.

Spirit launched daily flights to Costa Rica from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in April 2007 and the company opened a reservations center here in 2009.

Possibly the worst airline flying to Costa Rica — once you finish paying the — additional charges — and sitting in a non reclining — forward leaning seat which is about 8 inches from the one in front of you — you know — you made a mistake!!!!!!!

Its a shame I rather pay more for better customer service….Spirit is THE WORST. I have never heard a single compliment for them ever.

You’re absolutely right! 3rd year in a row with worst customer service and their flights are always cancelled or late. If you’re going to pay the money to go to CR, pay the extra and avoid Spirit.
