Google Doodle spotlights Costa Rica vs. England match

Google Doodles throughout the World Cup have featured art related to the host country Brazil or the teams playing at the tournament. And this morning — for the final Group D matches — Costa Rica, England, Uruguay and Italy get special treatment.

While it’s no Sloth Kong, the images are still pretty fun. Plus, it’s about time Costa Rica’s flag appeared on the homepage of the search engine giant after everything the Ticos have accomplished in Brazil.

The Google Doodles have highlighted everything from samba music to Paul the Psychic Octopus:

I don’t know if anyone else here realized it, but that last Google Doodle is actually about the Costa Rica – Uruguay match. That represents Jorge Luis Pinto (“P” for Pinto) walking back and forth on the sideline. He gets angrier after Uruguay scores, but is eventually relieved as the match ends 3-1 in his favor.
