Adeline Zatorski opened a new store, Children’s Casual Wear, in Jacó Beach. She carries sizes for children up to 8 years old. Here you can find cute outfits for both boys and girls. Federico Mata reports that the Garabito 10K Punta Leona was a huge success, with close to 400 participants. This race was organized by the Jacó Adventure Race Team and Ultra Costa Rica, and partial proceeds went to aiding the Punta Leona beach soccer team, the current national champions.

Look for more events to come from this group. New management at the Corpus Gym will be celebrating tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m., a first championship of “Fuerza y Resistencia,” which will include bench press and leg press. The new managers have instituted changes on floor distribution, including adding an area for Cross Fit Training. Business hours and fees for Corpus will remain the same: Mon.-Fri., 5:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Sat. 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The monthly fee is {14,000 ($28) and daily and weekly passes are available. 

Also this weekend, the Credomatic Concert Series in Villa Caletas continues featuring “Cuarteto Fiato” at 5:30 p.m. For more info, contact 2630-3000.

Next weekend will be a good time in the Central Pacific zone. Book your room while you can, because both the Grand Finals of the Federation of Surf’s National Circuit and the Los Amigos 7-year Anniversary are coming. Inscriptions for entering the surf contest will be held at Morgan’s Cove on Thursday, Aug. 23, in South Jacó. The contest and closing ceremony will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday in front of the Backyard Bar.

The closing party of the Reef Circuit will start at 8 p.m. at Morgan’s Cove on Saturday, Aug. 25. On the same night, from 10 p.m.-2 a.m., Los Amigos will host an anniversary bash with live music (for more info, contact Jonathan Garcais at Los Amigos at 2643-2961). On Saturday, Aug. 25, at 5:30 p.m. as part of the sunset series at Villa Caletas, duo Marín-Aguilar will perform on the piano and violin. Cost is $18. For more info, contact concierge@villacalletas.com or call 2630-3000.
