Congratulations to Jacobeños Jair Pérez and Lisbeth Vindas who both won in the third leg of the Costa Rican Federation of Surf Contest held in Esterillos Oeste last month. Jair’s radical surfing was filled with incredible acrobatics that helped secure his win in the final over Gilbert Brown, Maikol Torres and Noe Mar McGonagle.

Lisbeth won the women’s open over Evie Johnstone, Tal Saporta and Emily Gussoni. The fourth leg will be held in Dominical on May 19 and 20 and the fifth leg in Jacó on June 16 and 17. For more information about Costa Rica’s surfing, visit

After a fantastic season, Darren Cole from Teatro Jacó has informed us to stay tuned for productions to come during the summertime. Anabel Miranda will be paying homage to her yoga teacher by hosting a master’s class today at Vida Asana at 10 a.m. Anabel is a certified dharma yoga teacher with more than six years experience, and she is now teaching traditional hatha vinyasa yoga classes at Vida Asana located on Calle Hermosa in Playa Hermosa. The Annual Rainfest will be held next week in Punta Leona. Not only will there be art activities and concerts, there also will be a 9.5-kilometer race held on Saturday, May 19 at 8 a.m. The cost to sign up is {6,000 ($12), and Saturday is the last day to sign up.
