San Ramón en Acción

April 25, 2012

Come one, come all. After months of soliciting, collecting, sorting and organizing, we are pleased to announce the opening of the doors for our Gran Venta de Libros. The book sale takes place on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Regional Museum in central San Ramón. The book sale will feature a collection of more than 5,000 used books, CDs, DVDs, and other educational materials. We thank all who have donated books, time and effort, and encourage readers and friends to visit us this Saturday.

We expect thousands of people to attend the Gran Venta de Libros, and to take advantage of one of the best selections of used books in Costa Rica. Most books will sell for {1,000-2,000 ($2-4), and admission is free. This will be a community event and will also include various activities, food and beverages from the museum’s 1930 Café.  Proceeds from the sale will be distributed to two beneficiaries: El Museo Regional and the Hogar para Ancianos.  We have the books, now all we need is you. For more information, visit www.actionalliancecr.com

The Community Action Alliance, in cooperation with El Museo Regional de San Ramón, is starting an English Conversation Club beginning May 22. Each conversation group will be hosted by native English speakers and will include up to six participants. The groups will meet once per week at the Regional Museum for six weeks. The cost is {10,000 ($20) per six-week session and includes all materials. All proceeds will benefit the Region Museum and the Community Action Alliance Escuelas Scholarship Program. For a complete schedule of sessions and more information, contact Dave Scott at srenglishclub@gmail.com or go to www.actionalliancecr.com.
