  It’s a great weekend to be in Jacó Beach. Tonight:  Don’t miss Copacabana’s anniversary party at 7 p.m. with live music, a pig roast and frozen drinks. Dress in white to participate in the raffle prizes. Tomorrow afternoon, check out Quiksilver’s King of the Groms contest to be held in front of the Backyard Bar in Playa Hermosa.  On Sunday, April 1, at 5 p.m. in Jacó at Malecón Bar, Roxy is sponsoring Debi Nova and Federico Miranda to play acoustic music and kickoff Semana Santa.  With more than six nominated Grammy projects, Debi Nova is releasing a hybrid Spanish/English debut album called “Luna Nueva.” This Costa Rican singer is sure to put on a stellar performance in Jacó this weekend.  

The Festejos Pupulares are being held out in Herradura Fri.-Mon.  To check out a typical Costa Rican celebration complete with bullfights, dancing, karaoke, local cuisine and plenty of fun, show up at 7 p.m. this Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights.  Later in the week:  Teatro Jacó has changed the time of Jazz Garbo to be held at 8 p.m. April 4-7. Marvin Pérez and the lifeguards of Jacó Beach are prepared for Easter week. Allan Umana and Jim Gray from Hotel Cocal & Casino coordinated to make sure that the lifeguards received their list of items to help keep our beaches safe.  If you or your business would like to contribute to the cause, please contact the chamber of commerce at 2643-2853 or Marvin at 8507-1125.

Conrad Haynes from Toronto, Canada, has opened in Jacó Beach. These three-wheel scooters are being offered to riding enthusiasts on the central Pacific coast.  For more information, contact Conrad at 8645-7356. 

The new commercial center 300 meters east of the municipality is the new home of the following governmental offices: OIJ and the fiscalía are located on the first floor.  OIJ can be reached at 2643-1723 or by email: The fiscalía is open from 7-11 a.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. The top prosecutor is José Alexander Ramírez 2643-3686. On the second floor, you can find the public defender’s office, misdemeanor court, criminal court and trial court.
