Jacó Happenings

February 1, 2012

David Arthur, Glen Bain and Adriana Acosta of Costa Rica Pools and Construction have opened a third location in Jacó. Their full construction company not only does repairs but also can build your new dream pool, along with offering weekly cleaning service. They can be found in the Picasso building, 25 meters east of the Hotel Amapola. Their stores carry a complete line of chemicals, parts, pumps, filters and other supplies. Nohelia González staffs the office Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon. For information, call 2643-3227, email costaricapools@hotmail.com or visit www.costaricaswimmingpools.com.

Pepper Monroe and Ozzie Hoppe of Adrift Surf Shop in Esterillos Oeste are calling all citizens, friends, colleagues and humans with a passion for creative expression: The first ever Colaborarte show – a global concept of spreading art through rural communities and urban environments via art shows, residencies and exhibitions in locations where art shows perhaps have previously not existed – is having its opening exhibition featuring local art from all genres as well as art from the roving traveler. Check out the action tomorrow, Feb. 4, from 6-9 p.m., across from Super Sol in Esterillos Oeste.

The U.S. National Football League’s Super Bowl XLVI will take place Feb. 5 in Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana, and there is no shortage of places to watch the game in Jacó. Los Amigos’ $20-per-seat cover includes two drinks and a door prize raffle, with a DJ after party. The 2011 Miss Clarita’s Beauty Contest will be followed by the game at Clarita’s Oceanfront Beach Bar. Tim Odom’s SkyBar at the Hotel Poseidon on Calle Bohío, Jaco Taco and Bar Oz are just a few other spots to catch the action. Out in Tárcoles, Outback Jack’s will be featuring the fun on their 15-foot screen.

The Bridge Club at Jacó is offering a three-day beginners’ bridge class Feb. 8-10 at the Hotel Cocal, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day. To reserve a seat, contact John Randall at 8703-9609. No previous experience is preferred!

Mark your calendars for Jungle Jam at Jacó’s Hotel DoceLunas the third weekend of February. They are stoked to be hosting Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead and Max Creek. For more information, visit the events page at www.docelunas.com.
