Flamingo/Potrero News

January 11, 2012

A lot of baby turtle tracks were spotted on the south beach of Flamingo over the holidays, as well as one lone turtle trying to make its way back to the ocean. That turtles are returning to lay eggs on this beach is great news. With so much change in the environment and harvesting of turtle eggs, every surviving turtle is a wonder.

Surfside resident Sharon Castillo Sánchez has opened a new sushi restaurant, Temptation Sushi, at the intersection to Potrero, across the street from Banco Nacional. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday, 3-9 p.m., and offers two-for-one sushi during happy hour, 5-6 p.m. For takeout orders, call 8345-0248.

Ulrik Oldenburg and wife Dagmar Vanegas celebrated the renewal of their marriage vows on a sunset sail Dec. 28 on the Sea Bird Sailing. The event was a big surprise to Dagmar; Ulrik was able to keep the secret until he went down on bended knee and asked her again for her hand in marriage. Friends and family were aboard the catamaran to witness the memorable event.
