Flamingo/Potrero News

Flamingo’s Angelina’s and Mar y Sol restaurants reopened Dec. 1 for high season. In Potrero/Surfside, the Shack, El Coconut and Maxwell’s are open as well, so check out all these places for great food, ambience and service.

Flamingo Marina Resort hosted a kickoff party Dec. 3 for its new Laguna Beach facility, which will be used for special events such as weddings, barbecues and dances. The food was great. Local Legend provided the live music.

That same day, Country Day School hosted an elegant Holiday in Paradise Dinner Dance and live and silent auction event at the Conchal Beach Club. The event was a fundraiser for the school and outreach programs, with proceeds going to the nonprofit CEPIA and Mano y Mano. Many thanks to those who coordinated this special evening and donated prizes for the silent auction.

It’s the end of an era, and the beginning of a new one. Dave Nelson has ended his music partnership with the Electric Storm after a five-year stint of playing every venue in the area. He has now moved on to form a new band called the Legend.

The Electric Storm, however, has not ended, and has recruited bassist and backup singer Paul Marin. The band continues with Charly Lopez on vocals and guitar, Ludo Soler on guitar and vocals, and Olman Ovares on drums and backing vocals. Band members say they are working on a new sound and a whole new repertoire, with new songs they will introduce at every show.
