Quepos’ Reymar Ramírez is the new Costa Rican bodyboarding champion. He took the first national bodyboarding title Oct. 1 in the four-foot waves of Playa Hermosa, just south of Jacó.

Here are the results from the annual Chili Cook-off at La Hacienda restaurant last weekend: first place, Cody Whitmire; second place, Daniel Sprester; third place, Pappa; people’s choice, Louise Zobrist. Everyone ate a lot of chili and had a good time.

Those going to the Panamanian border have the option of private transport leaving from Quepos at 6 a.m. and returning from Panama at 4 p.m. the same day, for ₡20,000 ($40), every Wednesday, as long as there are enough people. For reservations, call Carlos at 8861-0884.
