Notes from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
The Southern Caribbean Artisan Fishermen’s Association invites everyone to a fishing tournament Oct. 23.
The association is made up of more than 40 fishermen from Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo who are working for the rights of local fishermen and to protect their traditional lifestyle. Now they are organizing to confront a big threat to the health of our reefs: the lionfish, or pez león in Spanish. Join in the fishing contest to help eradicate this threat to our reef ecosystems and the artisan fishermen’s way of life.
For more information or to sponsor the event, contact José Ugalde at email@example.com.
