Jacó Happenings

March 10, 2011

The Central Pacific Women’s Group’s second bake sale to benefit the CEN-CINAI preschool was extremely successful in raising funds to repaint the school. They are aiming to paint on Saturday, March 19, starting at 8 a.m., and are seeking volunteers to help. For details, call Jane Swidler at 2643-1248. The group extends a huge thank-you to Balcón del Mar for hosting its monthly meetings for more than three years. Balcón del Mar now needs that space, however, so Morgan’s Cove Hotel is providing the group with space for its March 16 meeting, featuring guest speaker Henry Karczynski of Villa Vanilla. Morgan’s Cove is south of the municipality offices, just past the CEN-CINAI.

This is the Jacó Summer Festival’s last weekend on Calle Ancha. Pimienta Negra performs tonight at 6 p.m., followed by bullfights after 7 p.m. The after-party will be at the Monkey Bar, with DJ Double D. For more information, visit www.jacosummerfestival.com.

Tomorrow is all about surfing out in Playa Hermosa, with the Metropolitan Surf Circuit taking place in front of Cabinas Las Olas and the weekly Saturday Surf Series at Backyard Bar. Registration for the Metropolitan contest is tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jass Surf Shop in Jacó.

Tomorrow night, the Jacó Rays soccer team plays Ramonense in the Garabito Stadium at 7 p.m. Entry costs ₡2,000 ($4).

The following day, a Sunday Sunset Fiesta by CR Cruise will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. in Herradura, featuring DJ Chris Jofre. To get your tickets, call Jacó 360 at 2643-5901.

Some of the best fiestas cívicas in the region are set to kick off next weekend in Quebrada Amarilla, with activities scheduled March 18 to 28.
