Tamarindo Talk

December 9, 2010

El Garito, the new tapas bar in Plaza Tamarindo near ABC Realty is offering a number of good theme nights. Owners DJ Zeke, aka Ezequiel Marinoni, and DJ Mauricio de Sostoa naturally put on a jumping house night on Saturdays, and also offer Monday punk rock night, Tuesday ladies’ night and Thursday hip-hop night.

Yet another restaurant has opened in the space at Garden Plaza. This time, it’s El Arriero, which serves Mexican and South American dishes. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. for lunch and serves an afternoon tea at 2:30, happy hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.

Also new is Doña Lee’s Country Kitchen, which opened in the space most recently occupied by Ursula’s, opposite the Tamarindo Gym. As the name implies, they serve down-home cooking like grits, biscuits and barbecue ribs. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The popular Open-Mic Night formerly held at Pasatiempo has found a new home Wednesdays at Voodoo Lounge, beginning at 9 p.m.
