Jacó Happenings

April 9, 2010

Sibö Spa at the Los Sueños Marriott held a special cocktail party to celebrate its recent opening. Angie Jiménez of Scotiabank helped sponsor the fun-filled event showcasing the spa’s products and treatments. Congratulations to John O’Toole and José Regis, both of whom won all-inclusive packages in the raffle organized by Angie. Sibö has a state-of-the-art fitness center, relaxation areas, tennis courts, yoga classes and a co-ed lounge. For more information on the spa, contact Danilo Domínguez at 2630-9071.

Margo Sanders will now be co-directing the Central Pacific Women’s Group along with Norma Kahn. The next meeting will be at Balcón del Mar April 15 from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a potluck lunch. This month’s program will be presented by Kevin Cantwell of Coldwell Banker and Liana Robinson of CornerStones, an education foundation with two main goals:to open a multilingual library in Jacó and to grant educational scholarships. The library will be used as a learning center for students and area residents, as well as a platform to work with local students and to create a common bond between North American expatriates and Costa Ricans. The library will work with CornerStones to provide scholarships to underprivileged students in the area who show a desire and drive to succeed. Instead of “Bring a Book, Take a Book” for this meeting, bring books to donate to the library, or drop off book donations at the Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce office in Jacó’s PacificCenter.

The first introductory meeting of the Central Pacific Men’s Group is set for April 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Balcón del Mar. Codirected by Russ Lowes and Lee Sanders, the group plans to meet the fourth Thursday of every month.
