The nonprofit CEPIA celebrated its fifth anniversary March 19 with a spectacular event at the Reserva Conchal Beach Club. The night featured a buffet dinner, circus and magic acts, games and a comparsa, as well as a silent auction of great items such as weekends for two at Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort and Flamingo Beach Resort, a Gyrocopter flight, a sunset sail on The Vagabundo Sailor, Reserva Conchal golf rounds, dinners, art, jewelry and much more. Everyone had a great time.
That same night, the Happy Snapper hosted its last performance of Downchild Blues Band. Donnie Walsh and the Leatherbacks performed as well. Two nights later, Luis Chacón wowed people with his sax.
A weekend yard sale was held March 19 to 21 at the Flamingo Marina Resort, next to the AquaCenter. The proceeds went to Jo Mega, friend to many in the area, who has moved to the United States to be closer to her son and grandson. We miss you, Jo! Maxwell’s Restaurant continues to hold organic markets Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m. Stop by to check out the wares.
Attention, area golf enthusiasts: The ninth annual CRGAR Golf Tournament will be held May 1 at the Reserva Conchal golf course. The format will be a scramble with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The entry fee is $150 per person. For more information and to register, call 8399-9000 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Welcome back to Flamingo residents Barbara and Bruce Bennett, who recently returned from a several-month stay in the United States. We also want to express our condolences to Barbara for the loss of her father, with whom she had a chance to spend time before his passing.
