Mixed Up About Cuba’s Fidel Castro

January 5, 2007

Dear Nica Times:

President-elect Daniel Ortega “gave” his election victory to President Fidel Castro of Cuba as an 80th birthday present (NT, Dec. 8, 2006).

Is that the same Fidel Castro who pointed his Soviet missiles at the United States during the Kennedy administration? Or is that the Fidel Castro who, in company with Che Guevara, bashed out the brains of thousands of his political enemies in the Havana Sports Arena?

I keep getting them mixed up.
