Puntarenas Celebrates Carnival through Sunday

THE party will be in full swingthis weekend in the principal Pacificport city of Puntarenas as it celebratesits annual carnivals. Highlightsinclude bull-running, beach volleyball,masked parades, dancing, livemusic and fireworks.Carnival is celebrated in Christiansocieties around the world – with Riode Janeiro’s Carnaval and NewOrlean’s Mardi Gras standing out asnotable examples – the idea being towhoop it up before entering into theaustere season of Lent.
