Mail Delivered Six Years Late
THE chief of customs for the CentralPost Office made a surprising find duringa routine inspection in February at a customswarehouse in Cartago, east of SanJosé: 143 sacks containing hundreds ofpackages sent to Costa Rica from Spainand England in 1998.The Post Office hurriedly deliveredthe six-year-old mail, attaching notes ofapology that claimed the Customs warehousenever alerted the Post Office of theshipment’s arrival.
